The Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center has been the site of a therapeutic riding program for six years. The BTRC currently offers programs for mentally and emotionally impaired, learning disabled and developmentally challenged children ages 6 to 16.

OUR PROGRAM RUNS ON MONDAY AFTERNOONS. The schedule for 2008 is as follows:

SESSION 1: April 28, May 5, May 12, and May 19 (closed May 26) - DONE

SESSION 2: June 2, June 9, June 16, and June 23

SESSION 3: June 30, July 14, July 21, and July 28 (closed July 7)

SESSION 4: August 4, August 11, August 18, and August 25

(closed September 1, September 15, and September 22)

SESSION 5: September 29, October 6, October 20, and October 29 (closed October 13)

Special things happen when children and horses are brought together.

There is a unique bond between horses and people that can be particularly meaningful to children with disabilities. Riding programs provide a relaxing, non-academic environment in which children can interact with adults and peers and more importantly with their horse.
